Where we need your help
The Product Owner role is an exciting opportunity to help us turn validated product opportunities into shipped value, bridging our Product Managers, our external development partner and stakeholders across the business.
What you’ll do
As Product Owner you are the engine of our delivery system. Working across two scrum teams, you bridge product, engineering and the wider business to ensure work entering development is ready, on track and well governed.
Run delivery across our two scrum teams
Lead the sprint framework and ceremonies across both squads, including planning, refinement, retros and reviews
Coordinate the day to day with our external development partner, ensuring developer time is focused on agreed priorities
Own the deployment process, planning and communicating releases with minimal disruption
Identify and escalate blockers and delivery risks early, working with the dev team to find solutions
Manage cross squad dependencies where work spans both teams
Run retrospectives and ensure improvement actions are captured and followed through
Validate what enters delivery
Own and prioritise the delivery backlog for both teams in partnership with the Product Managers
Hold the bar on Definition of Ready, ensuring tickets entering sprint have clear acceptance criteria and supporting context
Validate that work entering delivery is aligned to an approved Decision Brief, with defined scope, timeline and investment baseline
Validate timelines, dependencies and technical feasibility with the dev team before delivery commitments are made
Translate validated opportunities into clear user stories and delivery plans
Manage capacity, cost and quality
Track development capacity across both squads, balancing features, bugs, BAU and ad hoc work
Monitor CAPEX vs OPEX allocation against agreed targets, flagging deviations early
Report regularly on delivery cost and capacity to Product Managers and leadership, supporting trade-off decisions
Set quality and testing standards between our external development partner and the business, ensuring clear expectations of what comes out of dev and clean hand offs into UAT
Run bridge testing between development and UAT, demoing new functionality to stakeholders for sign off
Drive the embedding of governance requirements such as accessibility, compliance and security into how we develop and ship
Communicate progress and improve how we work
Provide clear, regular updates on sprint progress, delivery risks and deployment plans to stakeholders across the business
Plan and run end user training and demos for new features, ensuring teams are ready to adopt what we ship
Lead root cause analysis on dev side issues raised through the service desk, working with our external development partner to identify corrective action
Own and maintain documentation for our delivery processes, including workflows, standards and definitions of ready and done
Review and improve our ceremonies and ways of working as the team and tooling evolve
Identify and apply AI tools to improve how we plan, deliver and report, contributing to the wider business effort to embed AI into our ways of working
